Jammu, Nov 1 (KNC): In view of the upcoming Annual Jhiri Mela-2025, scheduled from November 4 to November 13, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Marh, Pallavi Mishra, has ordered the temporary closure of several government schools in the area to be used for accommodation of pilgrims and deployed security personnel.

The order, issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, lists eight schools in Jhiri, Shama Chak, Kalyanpur, Dab Karam Din, Chak Mahani, Dub Ditta, and Dab Sudan to be utilized for lodging purposes during the Mela period.

All teaching and non-teaching staff of the affected institutions will assist the Mela Officer in managing accommodations and related arrangements for visitors.

The SDM emphasized that these measures have been taken to ensure smooth management, safety, and convenience for the large number of devotees expected to visit the Baba Jitto Mal Shrine during the festival.

The schools will remain closed from November 3 to November 13, 2025, for the duration of the Mela. (KNC)
