In order to keep an equal pace with changing world there is always a need of a tools, techniques, and systems in order to solve our problems. The term can be applied to several areas such as educational technology, medical technology and information technology. Technology is progressing day by day. Technology has affected the society and its surroundings in a number of ways, from generating great economies to online classes, everything is controlled by technology.
As far as Educational technology (ET) is concerned, the present day person from every sector is almost technologically enslaved ,talking about my personal experience ,as I belong to education sector ,it is very necessary to keep myself well updated about what’s going around the world. I have to keep myself well versed with latest knowledge, programmes and techniques which would help me to cater the growing demands of my students, and which is also the need of an hour. As far as the Apathy on Kashmir front is concerned most of the times we face internet gag ,and if I talk about turmoils in Kashmir roughly we completed SEVEN LONG MONTHS of internet gag, (4th AUG 2019 –MARCH 05 2020),which is the kashmir’s longest ever INTERNET GAG, there is no doubt that internet services were restored in Kashmir on 24th Jan but this was only for 2g mobile internet services, and that too for whitelisted sites which further added to the miseries of a common users including school going children.
As all of us know that Kashmir is termed as land of conflict. Everytime any unending voracious cycle starts leading to rise of another one, if we take a look from previous episode,2008,2016, 2018,2019 tumults & this time there was an another cycle waiting at the corner .”THE CORONA DEATH CYCLE” which is already taking a heavy toll of 22629, active cases,1007 deaths in India alone & in J&K the reports are alarming.
On one side the government is announcing the LOCKDOWN,& on another side they are saying us to Stay home, STAY QURAINTINE,WORK FROM HOME, Go for downloading Aagrogya setup, & join live MANN KI BAAT on 26.April 2020.& FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION BUT listening to your heart on 2g signal is out of question.
AS an EDUCATOR, The question which keep on lingering into my mind, is what should I do to reach out maximum number of my students who are already bearing the previous burns of turmoil as far as loss of education is concerned. So the online classes are the only option left for me to connect with them so that atleast work from home actually works for the betterment of our future generation .We the teachers are bound to follow the instructions, protocols giving by our authorities, But the Barriers which a Teacher faces during online classes are
>lack of internet connectivity.
>lack of untrained, well equipped staff which even don’t know the difference between 2g&4g
>As most of the students enrolled in government schools belong to downtrodden, labour classes which hardly know anything about e-classes.
I really want to know how topics like construction in (maths),chemical reactions in(science),description of coal mine sites on India Map ( Geography) can be explained via audio or via 2g speed that too which is so erratic? Every time there is hearing in supreme court whether to lift ban on 4g or not and every time we keep on hoping that high speed net will be restored to provide hassle free classes to our students, but every time our hopes get demotivated. This on & off of net service has now less than a “4G RUCKUS” SHOW:EVERYTIME HOPING FOR ONE THING AND DOING NOTHING AT ALL.
But as all of us know we kashmiris had developed a sort of strategies to overcome every sort of lockdown, we have somewhat developed immunity to tackle any situation, ranging from harsh winters to turmoil.
As far as education sector is concerned till now we have reached almost (2161 schools/teachers covering 12455 students till 29-04-2020 2.13pm…on daily basis and that too from Srinagar district only, and the results are alhamdulilallah showing good signs. This time education sector has played phenomenal role by reaching maximum number of students ,providing them e-learning material that too on 2g networking paying their part as being a “corona warriors”….but this does not mean we should rely on 2G SPEED only ,if we want to achieve better results and to make up the total educational loss and to fill the gap, the authorities should lift the high speed ban to streamline the educational sector, to deliver online sessions without any hassle, and to update their knowledge around the world and to save the future generation from further loss.
