My Voice, Our Equal Future. In a statement by the Youth Ambassador-IYS, President of International Human Rights Commission for Jammu and Kashmir Fahar Baba said that this year’s theme of International Day presents us the opportunity to pay attention to adolescents-to hear what they have to offer and the solution they are demanding. Let’s seize the opportunity to reimagine a better world inspired by adolescent girls – energized and recognised, counted, and invested in.

Progressive reports of adolescents have not kept pace with the realities they face today, as COVID-19 has revealed much inequality. Being equal means everyone has the same requisites and resources to meet the task. Women and girls are solving problems all over the world, the problem of climate change, economic development, political conflict, disease prevention, global sustainability, etc.

However, women’s rights organization’s and other civil society oganizations have done much in achieving and implementing rapid and sustainable economic growth policies, and programs in areas such as education, health, women’s role in political and economic growth, harnessing their participation in related issues.

But what is more regrettable is the continuous gratuitous violence and discrimination against women and girls. Gender-based violence is a global epidemic. It crosses every social and economic class, ethnicity, religion, race, and education level, and transcends international borders.

As adolescent girls worldwide assert their power as change-makers, International Day of the Girl 2022 will focus on their demands to:

1. Live free from gender-based violence, harmful practices, and HIV and AIDS

2. Learn new skills towards the futures they choose.

3. Lead as a generation of activists accelerating social change.

4. Eliminate all forms of discrimination against girls.

5. Eliminate negative cultural attitudes and practices against girls.

6. Promote and protect the rights of girls and increase awareness of their needs and potential.

7. Eliminate discrimination against girls in education, skills development, and trainning.

8. Eliminate discrimination against girls in health and nutrition.

9. Eliminate the economic exploitation of child labor and labor for young girls at work.

10. Eradicate violence against girls.

8. Promote girls’ awareness of and participation in social, economic, and political life.

11. Strengthen the role of the family in improving the status of girls.
