Nestled in the serene Khan Colony, Chanapora, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, his home at House No. 1 is nothing short of a poetic sanctuary.
Guided by the musical muses of his father, Shafi Mohammad Mir, as well as Pt. Prithvi Nath Raina and Pt. Bhajan Sopori, Muneer’s musical journey echoes with the rhythmic cadence of his Bachelor’s degree in Indian Classical Music from Kashmir University. His voice, recognized as an instrument of expression by All India Radio, has earned him Grade-A acclaim for his proficiency in both Kashmiri and Hindustani languages.

Hassan Sofi, Padmashri Raj Bagum, Naseem Akhter, Padmashri Shamim Azad, Kelash Mehra, Gh. Nabi Sheikh, Vijay Kumar Malla, Pandit Bhajan Sopori, Ustad Nasarulla Khan, Ustad Mohammad Ashraf, and Abhay Rustum Sopori.
In 1976, he made his mark in black and white, singing under the guidance of Pandit Bhajan Sopori and Shamim Dev. This marked the start of his journey towards becoming an Approved Music Composer Grade 1.
For over twenty years, Muneer shared his musical expertise as a teacher in the Department of Information, nurturing budding talents. His compositions ranged from heartfelt ballads to joyful tunes, touching the hearts of many.
Two standout moments in his career were his contributions to the movie “Shikara,” where he sang under the direction of Abhay Sopori and Vido Vinod Chopra.
