Director General of Police (DGP), Shesh Pal Vaid on Thursday said that the forces present in the Valley are capable to tackle any kind of situation and are keeping vigil on the situation.

“We won’t let turmoil to happen in the Valley. Summer in the Valley will be fine,” he said while talking to reporters in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district following the gun battle between forces and militants in Halmatpora Village, as per correspondent.

Asked about the number of militants, the DGP said that the number of militants had gone down as compared to previous years.

The death toll in the ongoing gunfight between militants and the government forces in Halmatpora area of the frontier district of Kupwara mounted to ten with the killing of five militants and five personnel on Wednesday
The deceased have been identified as Havaldar Zorawar of 3 JAK Rifles who was attached with 160 Territorial Army (TA), Mohammad Ashraf Rather of same TA battalion, Naik Ranjeet Khalho of 5 Bihar while two SOG men as Mohammad Yousuf Cheche (SPO) of Kachama, Kupwara and Deepak Pandit of Nagrota, Jammu.
