Srinagar, June 18, 2026: The Nundreshi Auditorium at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) came alive today with the soulful rhythms of Kashmir, as the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, presented a grand musical opera titled “SOUNTUK AALAW”.
Organized by the Young Dramatists Society (YDS), Srinagar, in collaboration with IUST, the landmark event was approved by the North Central Zone Cultural Centre (NCZCC) under the prestigious Cultural Function and Production Grant (CFPGS, 47th meeting).
A Vibrant Celebration of Heritage
The musical opera received an overwhelming response, drawing a packed house. The audience, largely comprised of the student community, was spellbound by the rich cultural heritage, traditional music, and artistic excellence on display.
The performance underscored a vital contemporary theme: the need to preserve, celebrate, and pass down Kashmir’s vibrant cultural traditions to the younger generation.

Speaking at the event, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of IUST, Prof. Shakil A. Ramshoo, along with members of the university’s Cultural Committee, highly praised the initiative.
