Technology is invincible , however , its misuse , abuse or overuse is equally detrimental and deleterious. The onset and introduction of information technology was increasingly attributed to faster and rapidly developing global world.A gaint leap towards progress and prosperity of a nation where it disseminates information , saves time and offers a single window access to all and sundry from rank and file. Therefore , adaption and growth of technology is not only an indicator of progress and prosperity but also an alignment with the swiftly changing global world. However , on its contrary it has brought us to a world where everybody is desperate to be seen as a speaker while nobody wants to be a listener , everybody wants to be seen at the stage but nobody wants to be in the audience and everybody wants to be read as a writer and nobody wants to be a reader. Not only so , even nobody wants to prepare but everybody is desperate to deliver. That is to say everybody wishes to be a preacher or teacher but nobody wants to be a learner. As a result the process of learning and ways and means of acquiring skills and assimilation of knowledge have been pushed aside to a no priority zone. Consequently the concept and means of “learning” in itself are at the stake and so are the learning outcomes which are almost reduced to zero.A speaker has lost the rapport and connection with the immediate audience because of the anticipation of being heard and visualised by virtual ( fake ) audience. As such everyone seems to be in a mad rush fighting for not to learn. Let’s understand it this way also , in the so called most practical world students are hardly doing any practical work in schools which otherwise used to be comparatively much better. If the same trend continues which seems more likely so , we will have an unlearned generation ahead signs of which are very much visible today itself. This is a sorry state of affairs which goes against the very cause and purpose of technology and it must not remain a cry in the wilderness.
Photo finish is a miserable trend that has developed at and around the work places. Instead of doing it and concentrating on work one remains mentally bound to finish the things on camera and that is the worst side of technology. Not only so , worse than that is once the photo finish is over it is all over and it seems that there is no further scope for carrying on. Ironically many a times the photo finish is done even before the actual start of the work or assignment. The time lag between the start and finish is like the blinking of an eye. In such situations what is there to learn for the new upcoming generations , one is cheating with the work itself and second is cheating with the profession by opting misleading , unfair and foul practices.
Good work culture is the working principal of any successful corporation , department or organisation , and when it comes to individual growth it polishes the skills and talent of an individual which in turn becomes a license for success not only in getting a recognition but also enables a worker or employee to be increasingly on demand atleast in the private sector if not in a government sector. Moreover , a good employee realises the importance of work and he does it for the sake of goodness of work and society and to give a solace to one’s conscious rather than doing it for casual approval of the boses. The mantra of acting locally and thinking globally reveals that any good work at our level contributes in progress and prosperity of the nation. It is only possible when we are focused and involved in work having due consideration and concentration which is the epitome of the spirit of good work culture. Team work, appreciation and depreciation are the signs of good work culture and heart and soul of any successful organisation. It is based on shared skills and knowledge which is only possible when a person applies himself having better ideas and innovations that make him grow as a successful worker and reflects in taking the institution or organisation to the newer heights achieving milestones.
The prime focus must be on getting the work done by true and professional means rather than having a show of its finish. This “finished in a hurry” culture is detrimental for a smooth work culture and it ruins the proficiency and essence of individuals , institutions and organisations.Sence of hurriness hinders the caliber of an individual and wipes out the desire to work from him.Instead of making an employee bound to finish the work anyway , we must work in building a sence of belongingness in him and make him feel that his work and contribution is more valuable in the department. This will give rise to critical thinking and innovations which are essential means of growth and development.
The spirit of work is getting lost by the minute. Work must be done for the sake of work and not for a show off. We should make a judicious use of technology rather letting it interfere or making distortions in work. Technology is not a replacement for work.It is to facilitate us in getting the work done rather than taking the work away from us.We must strike a balance between technology and our goals. It is only when the work is done in its true spirit that the objectives and goals will be achieved which will otherwise remain a far cry.
