The topic which itself tells us the whole is “ The Rape Victims” when one sits to write on it, the person himself shivers when writing on it. Before going through the rape victims, it is important to write on why this topic needs to be enlightened. Well, we already know about the crimes that occur against women, either it will be domestic violence, suppressing their voice or blaming for every single instance for no fault of there’s. Although measures are taken now to give women their rights and to give them what they deserve, they being an important part of the society like, giving their right to vote, right to education, etc. But despite all these optimistic steps taken, there are always crimes against women knowing at the door and one crime against women is rape. A serious threat to the dignity of the women and an assault on their morals, their safety. Though we know that rape is the establishment of sexual relations with a women, against her will, forcibly done but the story doesn’t end here because rapes even happen with a married lady done by her husband, when she isn’t willing to have sexual relations. The cause of this immoral and unethical act is definitely the male lust. When a man loses his dignity, he commits this immoral act. It is such a sin for which even God will refuse to forgive. The time a man see a lady with lustful eyes, see her as an entity/a thing or a commodity meant to fulfill his desires, it is the time he loses his whole existence because it fails to co-memorate he also has a mother, a wife and may have a daughter. This is infact the greatest irony ever through which one comes across.
Though we know the outcomes of this immoral act but, the rape victims i.e; women suffer for the whole of their life because of it. The rape victims i.e; women lose their psychology balance and even, some fail to recognise themselves and some get jerks and some even get traumatized because of this immoral act. The post-rape physiological imbalances are obvious and even, in most of the cases, the victim pushes itself to the edge of perishing its life. Rape Victims don’t need sympathy only they need family support, support from the society and the friends so that she may develop enough intrinsic as well as extrinsic strength to fight for her justice and for the punishment of the culprit. In most of the cases, either the rape victim don’t get the necessary requirement support from the people around or her voice is suppressed due to the fear of society, what the society will think, etc. But, these are mere unsupportable and unjustified excuses because if the rape victims don’t come forward for her justice, then its the whole society which fails because today she were the victim of the immoral act and tomorrow it can be any other person, you or me or anyone. Such men really don’t deserve to live among us and they should be given penalty for their sin.We sadly remember the horrific incident of mass rape of Kashmiri women in Kunan and Poshpora villages that happened in February 23, 1991, although the case was reopened after a long time in 2011 when a petition was filed by some social activists from Kashmir who wanted to remove the dust of fear and hopelessness from the victims. After a long and difficult process the Jammu and Kashmir High Court directed the state government to pay compensation to those affected.The state government initially agreed, but then changed its mind, and challenged the High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court of India, where the case is still being heard.In Kashmir most officials seem to speak in what sound like cautious parables. But, as I earlier said “YOU HAVE TO DO IT YOURSELF”
Although, there are strict measures that have been taken against the male genre who commit this sin and to reduce the rape cases as much as possible like, Aasiya, an 8 years old girl of a nomadic tribe from Kathua area of Jammu region was given justice, though belated but, the culprits received their penalty.
As a society, we it’s also our responsibility to help the victims of rape or to ensure measures inorder to reduce the probability of these acts. But, since what had been done can’t be corrected, despite this we can still try to make the life of the victim back to normalization. We have to help the victims inorder they may come out of the horrible trauma they went through, they may re-think about their passions, ambitions and persuits in life. If we won’t then who will ?! We have to help them in changing their thinking and Perspective. Even mentoring and counselling them via psychological workshops, giving them optimistic books on life to read, taking them to parks, diverting their mind through watching movies, etc. Not only this, if at night or on a scary road a girl/woman fears to walk alone then, we need to ask the question what is the reason? It simply shows that there is some fault in the society? Something is wrong! It is we who make the society and who have to “be the change inorder to bring the change”. Though difficult but, not impossible. Together we can!

Poem:- You can come out of this hell

You are an erring light,
These surrounding opprobiums should not
distress you,
You have a hidden strength,
Never loose your heart in tears;

You are a flowing rhyme,
Do not be disparaged by the immoral sin of
someone else,
For you are the glory of the firmament,
Never get into anguish;

You are the heaven and the home,
The Nation’s Strength and The Social Smile,
You of the rose, the fragrance of all flowers
and the flowing river,
Never be disheartened;

You are the Subservient to the moral purposes,
O’ Girl! Call for your rights and Justice,
You can only yourself bring Glory and Triumph
to you and others too,
Never lose the courage within you..
