Three villagers missing after snow storm hits Bhaderwah-Basohli highway

A rescue operation has been launched to locate the three villagers of Bani tehsil of Kathua district who went missing after a snow storm yesterday.

The villagers – Ganesh s/o Kamlu resident of village Chunchali  ward no 2 Panchayat Khurwa, Rumal Chand S/O Tejram resident of Burmota and Kuldeep S/O Parsu Ram resident Panchayat Roulka Tehsil Bani – went missing after a snow storm hit the CHattar Galla Pass on Bhaderwah-Basohli highway.

The sleuths of Rashtriya Rifles based at Bhadarwah joined by police launched a search and rescue operation Wednesday afternoon in Thanthera – Chattar Galla sector of the highway to locate the missing villagers.

The Chattar Gali pass had received nearly 7ft snow till 5pm on Tuesday.

The villagers were travelling on foot when they were caught in the storm.

“One of the missing villager Ganesh called his mother yesterday at 2:30 pm and informed her that they have got stuck in snow storm at Chatargala, upon which the lady immediately informed her relatives and Villagers. We tried our best to connect with them on their cell phones but were unable to make any contact,” said Sarpanch Roulka Panchayat, Bishamber Sharma.

He said that they launched a search operation last evening but were unable to locate the missing youth.
