Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Wednesday said it is time for India to accept ground realities in Kashmir and shun its “stubborn approach.”
In a statement issued here, a Hurriyat (G) spokesperson quoting Geelani said that India needs to shun its “stubborn approach” and instead acknowledge ground realities of the long-pending issue.
Reacting to recent statement of union minister Hansraj Gangaram, in which he had stated that New Delhi has no plans to withdraw AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act) in Jammu and Kashmir, Geelani said: “New Delhi instead of accepting the hard realities about Kashmir issue through its military might suppresses genuine aspiration of Kashmiris”.
Asserting that the ongoing freedom movement for right to self-determination has entered in its decisive phase, Geelani said authorities despite imposing curbs on the resistance leadership have not been able to suppress peoples’ aspirations.
Meanwhile, Geelani has also condoled the demise of prominent writer, columnist and poet, Maqbool Sahil, and extended sympathies to the bereaved family.
