Awantipora, June 18, 2026: A two-day theatre workshop titled “Theatre and Youth of Kashmir” was successfully conducted by Young Dramatists Society (YDS), Srinagar at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora.
The workshop aimed to introduce students and young theatre enthusiasts to the fundamentals of theatre, acting techniques, stagecraft, voice modulation, character development, and the role of theatre in social awareness and cultural preservation. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various departments of the university.

Resource persons and theatre experts associated with Young Dramatists Society delivered lectures and conducted practical sessions focusing on the importance of theatre as a medium of creative expression, personality development, and community engagement. Interactive discussions were also held on the challenges and opportunities for youth in contemporary Kashmiri theatre.

Speaking on the occasion, the organizers highlighted the significance of involving young people in cultural and theatrical activities to preserve the rich artistic heritage of Kashmir and to promote creativity, critical thinking, and social responsibility among the younger generation.

The workshop concluded with practical demonstrations and performances by participants, who showcased the skills and techniques learned during the training sessions. Certificates of participation were distributed among the participants.
