Two held for alleged role in burglary at Kupwara

Two persons have been arrested by police on Saturday for allegedly committing burglary in Kralpora area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district earlier this week.

A police official said that on receiving a complaint from one Gowhar Ahmad Tanzoo, a resident of Dardsun Kralpora alleging theft of mobile phones and other paraphernalia from his shop on July 14, 2021, a hunt was subsequently launched to catch the burglars.

The team zeroed in and apprehended two persons identified as Amir Mohi-ud-Din Mir and Riyaz Ahmad Ganai alias Eifa, both residents of Payerpora Haihama area, the official said adding on confession of the duo, police recovered as many as thirty-six stolen mobile phones from the houses of the two accused persons.

An FIR number 74/2021 under section 457, 380 IPC stands registered at Police Station Kralpora and further proceedings are being initiated in this regard, the official added. (GNS)
