A Tata Sumo, which was on its way from Phagsoo village to Thathri in Doda district, skidded off the road and fell into the gorge on a sharp curve near Jangalwar village this morning, police officials said.

The villagers took the passengers to community health centre at Thathri, where doctors declared two of them brought dead.

“The driver perhaps lost control over the vehicle due to slippery conditions on the slope near Jangalwar village on Thathri-Phagsoo road. The vehicle rolled down 150-feet-deep gorge,” said Mohd Anwar Banday, Sub Divisional Magistrate Thathri.

The deceased have been identified as Ghulam Ali Malik (65), and the driver Mohd Ashraf (32).
