Two persons held for illegal extraction & transportation of minerals in Kulgam

Continuing its drive against persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of mining minerals, Kulgam police has arrested two persons and seized a tractor and a JCB machine.

A Police spokesperson said that acting promptly upon a specific information generated from credible sources regarding extraction and transportation of mining minerals in the jurisdiction of police station Behibagh, accordingly a special team led by SHO Police Station Behibagh was constituted who reached the suspected location where on spot two persons along with their JCB machine and a Tractor were indulged in illegal extraction and transportation of mining minerals from the Nallah at Munnad.

 “Both the persons (drivers) whose identity was ascertained as Irfan Ahmad Khawja S/O Ali Mohammad Khawja R/O Poonch and Yawer Ahmad S/O Nazir Ahmad R/O Gopalpora were arrested and the JCB machine and tractor involved in the said crime were seized”, he said.

In this regard, a case FIR No. 32/2023 under relevant sections of law stands registered at police station Behibagh and investigation is in progress.
