Unidentified persons on intervening Saturday night have destroyed property worth over a lakh in an educational institution at Qalamabad Mawar area of Handwara in north-Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Reports said that the unidentified persons have struck at Government Boys Middle School at Qalamabad to destroy its property.

The major damage, as per the reports, has been caused to ICT Lab of the institute.

Headmaster of the institute Farooq Ahmad Malik while confirming the incident maintained that a huge damage has been caused to the school property.

“The ICT Lab property has been destroyed to a large extent” Malik said adding “The visualiser which costs some forty-two thousand rupees has been damaged alongside three computer desktops.”

Meanwhile, when contacted Khursheed Farooq SHO Qalamabad told that a police team has been deputed to the spot to assess the situation.

“An FIR No. 9/2020 under section 3/4 has been lodged in this regard and further investigations taken up”, the police official said. (GNS)
