United Forum of News Papers decries foul play ‘Joint Director Information twisting facts’

Srinagar, July 6 : Terming the allegations leveled by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) against ‘Asian Mail’ Editor baseless, United Forum of News Papers Thursday said that medium time news papers are being targeted under a well planned conspiracy.
Spokesperson UFNP in a statement said that a meeting was held at the office of Daily ‘Asian Mail’ in which the insolent and arrogant behavior of Joint Director the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) was equivocally condemned. It was resolved that newspaper editors at any cost will expose those vested elements who try to crush the medium time news paper.
“The Joint Director Information and his supporter employees have presented a different story to bail themselves out. The reality is that the Editor Asian Mail had approached the Joint Director with a plea to end discrimination with the medium time newspapers over the distribution of advertisements. The Joint Director not only lost his state of mind but also hurled choicest invectives upon the Editor. The uncivilized and inhuman behavior of the top government official in his office chambers shocked the Journalist who only tried to show him the mirror,” the statement reads.
The United Forum of Newspaper Forum while accusing the Joint Director of taking the shelter of lies said that despite misbehaving with the Editor Asian Mail, he and his supporters have been threatening to lodge an FIR against him. “The Joint Director has been hiding the facts. From past some time, all efforts are being made to crush the medium time news papers and furthermore through an official statement facts have been twisted with regard to the distribution of payment among the news papers,” the statement reads adding that Press Council of India has been informed about the development in black and white.
