The Annual Commemoration of the September 18th World Peace Summit, hosted by HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light), celebrated its 11th anniversary this year with events held across the globe.

On October 18, a central ceremony took place in Essen, Germany, simultaneously with an online commemoration connecting 13 countries across Africa and Asia, continuing HWPL’s global peace efforts.

The Essen workshop gathered around 20 participants, including Peace Citizen Education graduates, representatives from the Female Union, and HWPL members. Attendees reaffirmed their commitment to establishing peace cities and expanding peace education..

And the online ceremony connected approximately 160 participants from 13 countries across Africa and Asia — including Burundi, the Central African Republic, Chad, South Sudan, Sudan, Somalia, Cameroon, and Rwanda in Africa, and Myanmar, Laos, Timor-Leste, Thailand, and India in Asia — bringing together leaders from the education, religious, and media sectors and highlighting the growing international solidarity for peace.

Under the theme “Uniting for Peace and Fulfilling Humanity’s Duty Together,” the commemoration highlighted 2025’s outcomes of HWPL’s three core peace initiatives: establishing a legal framework for sustainable international peace, the Interfaith Alliance for Peace, and Peace Education.

Key achievements included growing international support for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), the launch of the Solidarity of Religions’ Peace Committee (SRPC), and the adoption of HWPL Peace Education into national curricula in several countries.

HWPL Chairman Lee emphasized the need for global cooperation to achieve lasting peace, calling it a shared mission of all humanity.

One of the participants of the online commemoration, Hon. Bona Deng Lawrence, Chairperson of the Specialized Committee on Peace and Reconciliation of South Sudan, shared his reflections on his country’s recent adoption of the DPCW as a national resolution.

He stated, “The DPCW is a highly significant international document in the field of peace, and its adoption by our parliament carries great meaning. Although the process faced challenges, it has given hope and comfort to our citizens, showing that the people of South Sudan truly yearn for peace.” He also voiced strong support for the DPCW’s adoption as a UN resolution.

He further added, “Peace requires patience and can only be achieved through collective effort,” stressing the importance of continued cooperation and solidarity in realizing lasting peace.

Meanwhile, the local ceremony in Germany was co-hosted by the HWPL Essen Branch and the Female Union, with around 20 participants in attendance.

The program featured the screening of HWPL’s official promotional video, a congratulatory ceremony for Peace Citizen Course graduates, and a presentation of the HWPL Essen Branch’s vision for future peace activities. Remarks from the first Peace Citizen Education graduate and the Female Union representative emphasized the importance of laying the foundation for peace city initiatives and promoting local peace education.

HWPL will continue to strengthen international cooperation and exchange to further expand a culture of peace across the globe, aiming for these ongoing efforts to transcend borders and serve as a spark of hope lighting the shared future of humanity | Kashmir pen
