Srinagar, Sep 29: The Department of Social Work, University of Kashmir, has initiated a two-day Master Training Workshop for Mental Health (Training the Teachers Programme) at the university’s main campus.

The workshop, part of an ICMR-backed research project led by Dr. Aadil Bashir, aims to strengthen teachers’ capacity in addressing substance abuse, suicide prevention, and overall youth well-being. Selected faculty members from higher secondary schools and colleges are being trained as frontline responders to support students’ mental health.

As part of the initiative, a practical manual titled “Wal Sukoon Chandaw” (Come Let’s Find Peace) has been developed to provide teachers with structured tools and strategies to guide students towards resilience and mental well-being.
