Srinagar 15 Jan K Pen: A series of high-level meetings were recently convened to discuss urban planning strategies aimed at transforming the urban landscape of Jammu & Kashmir. Key discussions centered on Land Pooling, Transferable Development Rights (TDR), and Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) policies, with a focus on improving infrastructure, promoting sustainable mobility, and preserving the region’s rich heritage.
Integrated Solid Waste Management strategies were also reviewed, emphasizing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models for efficient waste disposal and recycling. The meetings underscored the importance of initiating pilot projects by the Housing & Urban Development Department to showcase successful outcomes and boost confidence among stakeholders.
Collaboration with the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID) was highlighted as a critical step towards realizing large-scale infrastructure projects. These initiatives mark a significant milestone in the journey towards creating sustainable, inclusive, and modern urban environments in Jammu & Kashmir.
