The annual Urs of revered saint Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), is being observed in Jammu and Kashmir with religious fervor today.
Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), who is also popularly known as Ghous-ul-Azam, Dastageer Sahib (RA), is an 11th century saint, whose anniversary is observed on the 11th day of Rabi Al Thani—the fourth month of the Islamic Hijri Calendar.
The biggest congregation is being held at the shrine of Dastgeer Sahib (RA) at Khanyar in Shaher-e-Khaas where thousands of people are expected to have a glimpse of the holy relic of the revered saint.
Night long prayers were also held in various shrines across the Valley on the preceding night.
Authorities have made elaborate arrangements to ensure proper sanitation, un-interrupted water and power supply for the Urs.
