A Handfolded appeal from Sr. Vice President EJCC AND EJAC to the common masses of Jammu and Kashmir.
The reluctance to reveal the travel history is not only putting the doctors and health workers at risk but also increases the chances of community transmission of COVID-19.The gravity of the situation could be judged by a tweet of doctors who treat these patients without knowing their travel history, “The diagnosed case of COVID-19 was seen by me in SMHS (Sher e Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences) casualty, it is so sad that they lied about the history of complete travel and charged on me and my junior when I sent them to CD hospital for testing. I was even asked by a ‘notable’ senior to send him home. ThankGod I did not.

Over the past two weeks, the authorities have been extremely worried over the rampant hiding of travel histories by the people arriving from both within and outside the country. All this, just to avoid quarantine which has been made mandatory by the administration for such people to avoid the spread of novel coronavirus in Kashmir. With some passengers who arrive from overseas not revealing complete information about their travel history, the State Health Department has called upon people to share accurate details with the authorities.

“Travelling to other countries is not a crime. And every international travel does not mean the person is infected with COVID-19. In the present scenario, it is important for people to be responsible and share accurate details, including travel history and other movements.
Keeping the day by day worsening of situation in view it is humbly requested that the people coming from out side should not hide their travel history as by doing so they are not only putting the life of their loved ones in danger but also the doctors , health worker , the common masses who come in their direct contact with such people.
People should adhere to the directions given by the authorities and must realise that the people who are outside on roads Viz Police men, people from District Administration are untiringly working for the people whom they doesn’t know but by risking their live are working for well being of same people.

Moreover if any employee of the state in particular and any resident of the state in general needs some sort of help our volunteers will always be there to help these people in need.
We will endure this together and we will recover and rebuild together…..Press note issued by Khalid Mehmood
