Wearing hijab neither obligatory nor objectionable, all parties must abide by HC verdict : RSS-affiliated Muslim body

The controversy over wearing hijab in schools that began in Karnataka has now spread to some other states too, with many more Muslim girls now insisting that they want to wear the head-dress inside educational campuses. There have been scenes of Muslim girls and teachers having to take off the hijab in public before entering school and college premises. The controversy seems to have divided school-going kids along religious lines. It has also hit the BJP’s effort to garner some support among the Muslim community ahead of the polls in Uttar Pradesh. We talked to Shalini Ali, National Convenor of the women’s wing of RSS-backed Muslim Rashtriya Manch on the whole issue.( TOI )
