Wet Spell predicted in J&K from Oct 5-7: MeT

The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Thursday issued a fresh weather forecast, predicting a wet spell across Jammu and Kashmir between October 5 and 7, with the possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in parts of Jammu division and moderate to heavy rainfall in Kashmir division.

As per the forecast, the weather will remain generally dry till October 4 afternoon, followed by light to moderate rain, thunder and gusty winds in the evening or night.

Between October 5 and 7, most places in J&K are likely to experience intermittent light to moderate rain/thundershowers, with light to moderate snowfall over higher reaches. On October 6, heavy to very heavy rains are expected at scattered places in Jammu division, while Kashmir may witness moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated locations. The wet spell is likely to continue on October 7 with heavy rain at some places in J&K.

On October 8, brief spells of light rain may occur at scattered places, while October 9–14 is expected to remain generally dry.

⚠️ Advisory: The MeT Centre has advised farmers to suspend harvesting and other farm operations from October 5–7.

A significant drop in day temperatures is expected during the wet spell. Authorities have also warned of the possibility of landslides, mudslides and shooting stones at vulnerable locations due to heavy rainfall.
