Srinagar, Dec 19 (KNC): In view of the approaching winter season, the district administration Srinagar has established a Winter Preparedness Control Room to ensure effective coordination and timely response to weather-related emergencies.
According to an official order issued by the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Srinagar as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, the control room has been set up at the district level with immediate effect to handle exigencies arising due to snowfall, fog, road blockages and other winter-related incidents.
The general public has been advised to contact the control room for any assistance during winter months. The landline numbers made available for public use include 0194-2483651, 0194-2457543 and 0194-2457552. Additionally, several officials of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) have been designated for round-the-clock availability through mobile phones.
For overall supervision and coordination, the administration has nominated the Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar and the Chief Planning Officer Srinagar as nodal officers for the control room.
As per the order, the control room will function round-the-clock and will monitor weather forecasts, snowfall, road conditions and other winter alerts. It will also coordinate with district authorities, police, disaster management teams and other concerned agencies to ensure swift response to emergencies.
The control room will be responsible for receiving emergency calls, issuing advisories and warnings, maintaining daily situation reports, documenting incidents and reporting major developments to higher authorities without delay.
The district administration has urged citizens to cooperate and promptly share information with the control room to ensure effective management during the winter season. —(KNC)
