SRINAGAR 15 May : A woman was rescued alive after allegedly attempting suicide by jumping into Dal Lake near Nanwai Market in the Dal area of Srinagar on Friday evening, officials said.

The incident took place near Hazratbal Shrine, triggering a prompt rescue operation by the SDRF Quick Response Team (QRT) stationed at Hazratbal.

Officials said the woman was reportedly under mental distress at the time of the incident.

The rescue operation was jointly conducted by personnel of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Jammu and Kashmir Police and local residents, who managed to pull her out of the lake safely.

She was later shifted to Police Post Hazratbal for protection and further assistance, while officials said her identity has been withheld and further proceedings are underway.
