Action follows departmental enquiry after arrest in NDPS case; police reiterate zero tolerance policy
Srinagar, April 9 : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday dismissed a woman employee from service over her alleged involvement in a narcotics-related case.
Official told news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, identified as Police Follower Shameema Bano, had been placed under suspension in June 2021 after her arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu, in connection with a case registered under provisions of the NDPS Act involving seizure of contraband.
Following her arrest, a departmental enquiry was initiated to examine the allegations. Police officials stated that after completion of the enquiry and adherence to due procedures, the SSP Baramulla ordered her removal from service on April 8, 2026, exercising powers under the relevant provisions of the J&K Police Rules.
District Police Baramulla reiterated its commitment to maintaining professionalism, integrity, and accountability, stating that any involvement of police personnel in unlawful activities will be dealt with strictly as per law. (KNC)
