“One is not born, but rather becomes a women”
March, 8 is celebrated the International women’s day across the world. Women- the noblest creation of God. The day is celebrated and dedicated for gender parity or advocate for gender equality. This day acknowledges their invaluable contribution towards binding society. The day serves as a platform to raise awareness about social, political, and cultural achievements of women worldwide.
Women play a key role in socio-economic development of the society. Women in the society have ensured the stability, progress, and long term development. At global level women comprise 44 percent of the world’s agriculture labour and 33 percent at national level. Women’s contribution can forge pathways in establishing the society an instrumental in bringing about social change. Their role is immeasurable and profound. They are the embodiment of power, love and affection. From politics to education, business to social service, culture to sports, aerospace to journalism, Science and technology, literature to entertainment, entrepreneurship, environmental conservation etc women are making profound impact in every field.
Women have been proven essential contributors to the economy. Even they have been proving successful entrepreneurs and standing their own at higher rates than men. Women empowerment is essential as their empowerment leads to improved health outcomes, economic growth and development and poverty reduction. It has been observed that when a woman is represented in political leadership, they brought diverse perspectives and resulted in more informed decision making.
The power of women also lies in sustainable development and quality of life in the family. Their role can be assessed as wife, leader, administrator, manager, most importantly the mother. Hence it can be said with an iota of doubt that women assume a great significance in the society. They have attained an immense success and appreciation in every field, be it sports, politics and academics. A women needs to understand her rights so that she can walk at par with men. Mother Theresa, Pritbha Patil, Kalpnana Chawla and a lot more have been very significant in their own sphere and model for every woman across the globe.
It is a fact that women are intelligent, powered with multifaceted skill. Their painstaking attitude is always remarkable. They put heart and soul together in whatever they undertake. They have been admirely serving as doctors and nurses. There is no denying fact that women in India have made considerable progress in last few decades. Women all over the world have been made to suffer discrimination and deprivation and they have all along being denied even basic rights. The global concern has steadily grown past few decades and has resulted in efforts to bring women into mainstream of life mainly through socio economic activities aimed at empowering them and thus restoring equality between the sexes. On the one hand government is in a constant endeavour to empower women by initiating campaigns such as “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” . The most contented thing is that people now embrace the girl child and celebrate women’s day owing to women’s role in society with fervor.
Today women are adorned with patience and perseverance which has helped them to attain the pinnacle of success. They are acting as the second wheel of vehicle in the family. They act as the main constituent in progress and development. Earlier women were seen as housewives, who were only projected to cook, clean and take care of family, now they have been observed as successful in decision making, leadership that too in most optimal manner.
In the end, women is considered as a basic unit of society, they make family, and family make home, home make society and finally society make country. Life would be simply unthinkable without women. They are inseparable part of life. They should be celebrated every day, their efforts should be valued by everyone, and they should be appreciated what they have been doing. Women occupy the power to bring illumination of development and build a bright family as well as society. Many women in today’s world are immensely contributing towards each and every sector of the economy. They stand as a pillar of inspiration for modern Indian women and give us the pride in celebrating Women’s Day.
