15th Oct. Srinagar.

ACT and J&KHA jointly organise ‘World White Cane Safety Day’ at Tagore Hall, in Srinagar today, to recognise the importance of white canes for blind people, who want to safely travel and maintain their independence. The day aims to recognise the active participation of blind people in society and celebrate their achievements. The white cane is a long cane that helps someone with ‘Low Vision’ or ‘No Vision’ to navigate and avoid obstacles on the road. It is their visual aid that helps identify dents, platform edges, steps, uneven surfaces.

The one day Seminar on White Cane Safety was organised by ‘ACTORS’ CREATIVE THEATRE’ and ‘J&K HANDICAPPED ASSOCIATION’
