Amid a thundering round of applause and with appreciations pouring in from various sections of civil society, Zafar Iqbal Manhas, writer-columnist turned politician and Member of the J&K Legislative Council was Friday named the “Best Legislator” for the year 2017 by Chairman. J&K Legislative Council.Manhas is a widely known figure amongst literary circles with myriad known publications to this credit. A Best Book awardee from J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and a former Secretary of this premier cultural institution, Manhas is known for his proactive role in raising public issues of import on the floor of the House.Apart from holding the membership of the Upper House, he is currently also the Vice President of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages; a distinction he shares with his predecessor Prof. ND Sharma. Other members of the House have also been awarded in various other eminent categories.
