Poetry has captivated readers for thousands of years. Regardless of the time period during which they wrote, the great poets on this list have used their talents and ways with language to connect with readers of all ages. Poets and their poetry have the ability to take readers places and into worlds they’ve never imagined. Poets can often be tortured souls or great thinkers who allow readers a new view on the world which they never would have imagined. These greatest poets provide the kind of emotional connection to the written word that few can.

Kashmir being considered rich in poetry , has produced a number of great poets & poetess. Here we have  Lal Dad, Her sensitivity and mysticism in the verses “Vaakh” appealed to the Hindus, Muslims, scholars and peasants alike. Habba Khatoon ,and Aarnimal Other works of this formative phase are Shrukhs of Sheikh Noor-ud-din, Love-poetry flourished in the next few centuries. Along with the mystical and esoteric verses perfected by Habib Ullah Navshohri,  Bhawani and among contemporaries Rehman Rahi , Shahnaaz Rashid and many more are there who made a mark in this art. And new trends in poetry will keep on developing and enlightening the human race and this will keep on going till the world exists. As renowned poet Ahmad Faraz has it ..

YEH BHI IK SILSILA E KUN FA YAKOON HAI YUN HAI
