Jammu, July 16: Indian Railways has extended its 3 percent benefit (bonus) scheme on booking unreserved tickets through the ‘RailOne App’ till March 31, 2027, to encourage passengers to book tickets through digital modes.
This decision, according to railway authorities, will provide great relief to regular travellers and will also promote digital transactions.
“Under the scheme, passengers booking unreserved tickets through the ‘RailOne App’, using all digital payment modes including UPI, debit or credit card, net banking, etc., except ‘R-wallet’, will be provided an immediate 3 percent discount on the fare,” shared Raghvender Singh, Public Relations Inspector, Jammu Railway Division.
He clarified that the passengers booking tickets through ‘R-Wallet’ would also be given a 3 percent cashback bonus. “However, the provision of giving bonus on R-wallet has already been in effect till August 24, 2028 and there is no change in it, at present,” Singh said.
Detailing about the benefits to passengers from this scheme, he said that they would get 3 percent savings on every ticket, which would reduce the expenses of regular travellers.
“Secondly, the passengers will be able to book tickets in a few seconds from home or while on the move, without standing in a queue at the counter, thereby saving time. Thirdly, since the ticket will be available on mobile itself, it will be completely paperless and there will be no need to carry a paper ticket. Also, with this initiative, the crowd at railway station counters will reduce and passengers will get prompt service,” he explained.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Railway Division, Uchit Singhal, while lauding the initiative, said, “The objective of Railways is to provide passengers with fast, safe and affordable travel facilities. Extending the 3 percent discount or bonus scheme through the ‘RailOne App’ will not only provide economic benefits to passengers, but will also promote paperless and cashless ticketing under Digital India. I appeal to all passengers to avail maximum benefit of this scheme. Jammu Division is making every possible effort for the convenience of passengers.”
He requested all passengers to download the ‘RailOne app’ and avail the benefit of the scheme to make their journey more convenient, faster and economical.
