SRINAGAR, JULY 06,2026 : The National School of Drama (NSD) – T.I.E Centre, Srinagar, in collaboration J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, launched a 15-day Summer Theatre workshop with school children of Kashmir division today. The workshop, designed for two age groups — 8–12 years and 12–16 years — aims to enhance life skills, nurture creativity, and unlock the latent potential of young minds through theatre.
The inaugural ceremony began with a warm welcome by Mr. Gulzar Ganaie, Coordinator , NSD TIE Centre to the guests , parents of the participants and all present.While addressing,he highlighted the significance of the summer workshop and emphasized the importance of Theatre-in-Education in boosting children’s confidence, creativity, and overall personality development. He further said that theatre is a medium that builds confidence, discipline and creativity in children. This 15-day workshop aims to nurture young talent and provide a platform for self-expression to the participants.

Mr.Ideel Saleem graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Mr.Sheikh Hanief , renowned writer & Senior Theatre luminary as special guest. The guests appreciated the enthusiasm of participating children and encouraged them to make the most of this learning opportunity with a reputed national institution like NSD.
The workshop shall be facilitated by NSD experts Mr.Manish Saini & Ms. Neeyatiben Pràvinbhai Rathod and assisted by Mr.Abdul Basit Rather & Mr.Shahnawaz Bhat.

The parents expressed their gratitude to NSD for bringing this opportunity to their children for nurturing life skills and polish their talent.
The students enthusiastically participated in the first-day activities and enjoyed joyful learning.
In the conclusion Mr.Gulzar Ganaie extended the vote of thanks to the parents, guests and all present on the occasion.
