Almost all Downtown Srinagar to be treated as Red Zone: Police

Almost all Downtown Srinagar will be treated as Covid19 Red Zone from Monday, police said today.

The areas falling under the jurisdictions of police stations Khanyar, Safa Kadal, Rainawari, Maharaj Gunj, Nowhatta and Eidgah will be treated as Red Zone while as Karan Nagar and Batamaloo will be “supporting police stations”.

SSP Srinagar Dr Haseeb Mughal said, “These are congested areas. We are enhancing the restrictions in these area and are hopeful people will cooperate.”

“Nobody will be allowed to move, except those with medical emergencies and people with valid passes. We have started making announcements in these areas.”

“These measure are not a law and order issue,” he said. “Incase people face any problem they can call helpline numbers.”

Official sources said that the decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Advisor to LG, Baseer Khan.
