Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday announced a compensation of Rs six lakh to the kin of each of the seven Amarnath pilgrims killed in Monday’s attack in Anantnag. Separately, Governor announced Rs five lakh compensation to the kin of the deceased.
Officials said that Rs six lakh compensation has been announced for each death, two lakh for those grievously injured and one lakh for injured yatris.
They said the state government will also give a cash reward of Rs three lakh to the driver of the bus, Sheikh Saleem Gafoor, for showing “exemplary courage and presence of mind” while driving through the bullets.
Separately, Governor, N N Vohra, Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board has announced relief of Rs 5 Lakh to the next of kin of those killed in the incident, Rs 1.5 Lakh to those who had suffered grievous injuries and Rs 75,000 for Yatries with minor injuries.
Governor also announced a special reward of Rs 2 Lakh to the driver of the bus, whose alert response saved lives of many pilgrims.
