Noted Kashmiri poet, writer and scholar Fazil Kaashmiri was remembered today on 11th July 2017 in a literary function organised by JKAACL at its Seminar Hall at Lal Mandi Srinagar. A huge gathering of Artists, Writers and Poets participated in the event presided over by well known Kashmiri poet and Academician Gh. Nabi Atish, while as District Development Commissioner Srinagar Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone was the Chief Guest. Son of Fazil Kashmiri Syed Zeshaan Fazil and Secretary JKAACL Dr Aziz Hajini were also in the presidium.
Welcoming the guests Secretary Academy paid tributes to Late Poet and announced three weekly Programme Series being started by the Academy from this week on regular basis.
Special Number of Kashmiri SHEERAZA on life and Contribution of Fazil Kashmiri was released on the occasion. Prof. Basher Bashir delivered Fazil Memorial Lecture on the subject “Devotional poetry of Kashmiri Language in the backdrop of Collective psyche of Kashmir”. The lecture was followed by long discussion. Gh Nabi Aatish in his presidential Address hailed the efforts of Academy for organising such events and highlighted the contribution of Fazil Kashmiri.
Fazil Memorial Committee presented three FAZIL MEMORIAL AWARDS to Prof. Mohammad Zaman Azurda, Prof Shad Ramzan and Prof. Farooq Fayaz on the occasion./ KP
