A meeting of the Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid was held today to review and finalize arrangements in connection with the forthcoming religious occasions of Juma-tul-Vida (the last Friday of Ramzan), Shab-e-Qadr and Eid-ul-Fitr.

During the meeting, it was noted that Juma-tul-Vida, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramzan, will be observed on March 13, as there is a possibility that the following Friday may coincide with Eid-ul-Fitr. The meeting reviewed in detail the arrangements required for these spiritually significant occasions.

It was also observed that after a gap of nearly seven years, it is expected that the authorities will allow the congregational prayers and other religious gatherings on these occasions to be held at the historic Jama Masjid Srinagar. Taking stock of the situation, the Mirwaiz said that these sacred occasions hold immense spiritual significance for the faithful and attract a large number of worshippers to the mosque.

The Mirwaiz directed the members, staff and volunteers of the Auqaf to gear up for the necessary preparations, particularly with regard to cleanliness, management of large congregations and facilitation for the devotees.

The meeting also noted that on the occasion of Juma-tul-Vida, the sermon will be delivered by the Mirwaiz at 12:45 pm at Jama Masjid Srinagar, while the congregational Friday prayers will be offered at 2:20 pm.

The Auqaf will coordinate with the concerned government departments, including those responsible for water supply, electricity, municipal sanitation and other essential services, to ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place for the smooth conduct of the prayers and related religious functions.

Expressing the expectation that all sections will extend their cooperation, the Mirwaiz said that with collective effort and coordination these important religious gatherings can be observed peacefully, with dignity and in a spiritually uplifting atmosphere.
