Areshva Aisha Mir, an 18-year-old resident of Srinagar, scored 97.8 per cent in her twelfth standard Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations 2020 (CISCE) and also secured admission in an IVY-League College in Rhode Island in the United States.
Passing the coveted board examinations with flying colours, Ms. Mir secured 489 out of 500 marks, including 100 per cent in several subjects including Political Science, Environmental Science, and Sociology.
In her Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), Ms. Mir scored 800 out of 800 marks in Mathematics, while her overall SAT score is 1540 out of 1600. And hence, she secured a berth in prestigious Brown University in Providence, an Ivy League College, in Rhode Island of the United States.
The Ivy-League refers to an elite group of long-established universities in the eastern US having high academic and social prestige. Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, and Brown, are part of the group.
Ms. Mir said, “Well, I do not believe in quick fame. I believe in the processes and grind. Achievement and fame are two different things.”
Ms. Mir, who claimed that she has a keen interest in Environmental Journalism and as an avid reader, she enthusiastically follows global relations, geopolitics and environmental,
“I am humbled with my CISCE and SAT results. But this is a tiny milestone in the long and arduous journey ahead,” she said.
Expressing pride, her mother, Shazia Bakshi, said, “She deserves all the accolades. It is her days .”
