Army chief General M M Naravane visited North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday.

Sources told  that the Army Chief visited army camp based in Zangli area of the district.

Sources added that the Army Chief interacted with army officials and reviewed the operational situation and preparedness in the backdrop of the surge in ceasefire violations and infiltration attempts along the Line of Control, which comes at a time when both India and Pakistan are grappling with the Coronovirus pandemic.

Sources said earlier after arriving in Kashmir Valley, the Army Chief General Naravane visited 15 Corps headquarters in Srinagar.

Sources said that Army Chief’s visit comes soon after the recent spike in ceasefire violations (CFVs) along the 778-km LoC, with both the Indian and Pakistani armies deploying artillery guns and anti-tank guided missiles to target each other’s posts and locations.

Three civilians including a child and woman were killed in recent cross border shelling in Kupwara area of Kashmir. ( KNT )
