Jammu, Feb 12 (KNS) : Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Lagislator from Kishtwar, Shagun Parihar, on Thursday moved a Cut Motion in the Legislative Assembly seeking government assurance on restoration of the flood-damaged Sigat bridge in Kuntwara and completion of pending roads in Dachchan area.
Speaking to News Agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), MLA Parihar said the bridge was submerged during last year’s floods and is yet to be reconstructed, while several roads in her constituency have remained incomplete for long.
“We took a Cut Motion and sought assurance from the government that these projects be expedited,” she said.
The first-time BJP legislator joined daily wagers pressing for regularisation and asserted that her party stood firmly with their demand.
“They are the backbone of the administration. Whether it is moving files or ensuring water supply, daily wagers keep the system running.
We want a clear regularisation policy for them,” Parihar said.
Asked whether the funds allocated for J&K in the Union Budget were sufficient, she expressed confidence in the Centre’s commitment.
“Sufficient funds have been allotted. The Deputy CM has also said so. And if there is still any deficit, Prime Minister Modi is there. He will not let J&K suffer,” she added.
Reacting to National Conference’s charge that BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh has failed on development, Parihar hit back, saying, “If the NC has adequate funds yet cannot deliver, it only exposes their lack of intent. They are not serious about the people of J&K.”
On the government dubbing her participation in the protest as a “U-turn”, Parihar said, “We back the government when it delivers. But if the daily wagers’ issue remains unresolved, we will continue to stand with them.” (K
