Jammu, Apr 01: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday directed the adoption of a ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy against the drug menace in Jammu and Kashmir. Chairing a high-level meeting with Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, and senior officials of the civil and police administration at Lok Bhavan, Jammu, the LG called for a multi-pronged strategy, strengthening law enforcement to dismantle trafficking networks, intensifying mass awareness campaigns to deter potential users, and enhancing treatment, counselling, and rehabilitation services to
make the Union Territory drug-free. “Action against drug abuse must be our top priority. We need a collective mechanism to safeguard our youth and ensure a healthy future for Jammu and Kashmir,” Sinha said. The Lieutenant Governor further directed the strengthening of grassroots intelligence and coordinated, stringent action against drug smugglers. The meeting discussed a series of activities planned for a dedicated three-month campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The Lieutenant Governor exhorted senior officials to lead
the campaign from the front and ensure participation from every section of society and stakeholders to transform the initiative into a people’s movement. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, Special DG (Coordination) S.J.M Gillani, ADGP Headquarters M.K. Sinha, ADGP CID Nitish Kumar, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari, Divisional Commissioners, IGPs, DIGs, Deputy Commissioners, Director Information, SSPs, and other senior officials.
