Srinagar, July 19, KP: The Centre for Policy Analysis, as part of its activities on Jammu and Kashmir for the past six years, held a Round Table Conference on the current situation in the state, that is worsening by the day. This was the second such closed door discussion in recent weeks, attended by political leaders (in the first instance) as well as journalists, academics, activists and others. All who participated expressed deep concern about the deteriorating situation in the Valley, with the government at the centre rejecting dialogue and peace for the muscular military route, and the state government being reduced to a bystander.

It was decided to set up a permanent Working Group to monitor the situation on a consistent basis, to investigate incidents and issues that that erode peace and tranquility, as well as to work actively along with others in and outside the state for peace and reconciliation. The Working Group has been authorized to follow the developments, build a strategy, and create a public opinion around it through a series of actions considered useful from time to time.
