Srinagar, July, 19, 2017:
J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages is organizing series
of important cultural and literary programmes including skits on
social issues, satire, and music performances in the coming weeks.
The inaugural programme of the series was held at Tagore Hall here on
Wednesday under the title “Ranga Rang”. As part of the event, drama
skits, folk and sufiyana music and Kashmiri ruff performances were
held.
While Ustab Mohd Yaqoob mesmerized audience with his Sufiyana music
performance, Mohiudin Shah enthralled the public with his Chakri and
Ruff performance. Shaziya Bashir and Nazir Ahmad Nishati lent their
voices to light music.
Satire artists – Farooq Sheikh and Shahzad Bashir presented skits on
issues like mobile phones. The entire event was moderated by humorist
Nazir Josh
Giving details, Secretary Academy, Dr. Aziz Hajini said the aim of the
series is to provide multiple avenues of expression to the artists of
the Valley besides inviting attention of people towards grave social
issues.
“Apart from providing avenues of expression to the artists, our
intention is to put forth positive messages across the spectrum
regarding preservation and propagation of our collective cultural
values,” Hajini said.
Several prominent members of civil society including Sharif ud Din
Shariq, Aijaz Ahmad Kakroo, Mohd Amin Bhat, Waheed Jeelani and Ayash
Arif witnessed today’s performance.
