Srinagar, July 28,: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday expressed deep concern over the road accident at Gund in Ganderbal district in which several Amarnath Yatra pilgrims were injured while returning to Srinagar after performing the pilgrimage.

The Chief Minister directed the authorities to ensure that all the injured pilgrims receive the best possible medical care without any delay.

He also deputed Health and Medical Education Minister Sakina Itoo to visit the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar, and personally oversee the treatment of the injured.

The accident occurred earlier in the day when a bus carrying Amarnath Yatra pilgrims overturned near the S-Mode stretch at Hariganiwan in the Gund area, leaving 33 pilgrims injured. The injured were rescued by police, security forces and local residents before being shifted to hospitals for treatment.

The Chief Minister said the government was closely monitoring the condition of the injured and would ensure all necessary assistance is extended to them.
