Interacts with injured and Doctors, Directs Officials to Ensure Best Possible Medical Care

Srinagar, July 28 : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday visited the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, to enquire about the health condition of the Amarnath Yatra pilgrims injured in the Ganiwan bus accident in Gund area of Ganderbal district earlier in the day.

During his visit, as per news agency , the Lieutenant Governor interacted with the injured devotees, met doctors and hospital authorities, and reviewed the medical treatment being provided to them.

He directed the health officials to ensure the best possible care and all necessary assistance to the injured pilgrims.

Director SKIMS Dr Muhammad Ashraf Ganie brief Lieutenant Governor about the condition of injured and possible treatment being given.

He was accompanied was Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, Inspector General of Police Vidhi Kumar Birdi, DIG NKR Rajiv Pande, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo and other officials.

Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor had spoken to the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal and senior health officials soon after the accident and had sought updates on the condition of the injured.

The accident occurred when an Amarnath Yatra bus bearing registration number AR11 D5655 lost control near Hariganiwan in Gund and plunged into a gorge.

39 pilgrims were injured and were initially shifted to Sub-District Hospital Kangan before being referred to SKIMS for advanced treatment.

Officials said all the injured pilgrims are under medical observation, while police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident.
