SRINAGAR, Nov 4 : Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra on Tuesday announced the launch of a door-to-door campaign titled “Har Ghar Dastak” aimed at raising public awareness about the importance of statehood and the rights linked to it.
Karra said the initiative seeks to inform every household about the political and constitutional privileges Jammu and Kashmir stood to regain when statehood is restored.
“Our state is our right. To take this forward, we have started a new programme called Har Ghar Dastak,” Karra said while speaking to reporters. “In a small pamphlet, written in both Kashmiri and Urdu, we have explained in simple language what rights and privileges people would regain if Jammu and Kashmir gets back its statehood, and what they currently lack without it.”
The Congress leader added that pamphlets will be distributed across the Valley over the next week to ensure the message reaches the grassroots.
“We will send copies to the entire Kashmir valley so that people can understand our message clearly,” he said.
The campaign comes amid renewed political conversations in Jammu and Kashmir regarding the restoration of statehood, which was revoked in August 2019.
