Congress leader appeals for help to stranded labourers, students Demands special packages for poor people

Senior Congress leader and former MLA Devsar Mohammed Amin Bhat has appealed the government of India and administrations of states and union territories of India to rescue the labourers and students stranded in different parts of India.

“I am deeply concerned about the hundreds of Kashmiri traders, students and others who are stranded in different parts of India due to the country wide lockdown in view of COVID-19,” said Haji Mohammed Amin Bhat.

“Over two hundred labourers from different parts of Kashmir mainly from Devsar Kulgam are stranded in different states of India and few are stuck in Jammu but they need immediate help,” he said.

“Many of them have nothing to eat and no place to live,” he said, adding that I urge to the government of India to start a immediate rescue operation and provide them all facilities till condition gets normal.

He also demanded that government must provide free food grains to the blow poverty line families especially labourers, physically challenged persons, daily wagers and old age pensioners till this alarming situation gets over.

“Government must also ensure availability of all essential commodities at door step so that people especially weaker section may not suffer,” he said.

“Besides that government ensure availability of medicines in all hospitals and announce special financial packages for downtrodden people,” he added.

He appreciated the district administration Kulgam for the measures being taken for the prevention of covid-19 spread.
