Questioning the move of declaring entire Kashmir as Red Zone, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today said that only Covid 19 impacted areas subsequently the hot spots were required to be declared as Red & Orange Zones.

The Party also said hundreds of Labourers stuck up in different states were beyond the reach of the UT Administration in wake of the procedure laid down by the UT Administration.

The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G.A. Mir has questioned the move of declaring entire Kashmir as Red Zone, stating that only Covid 19 impacted areas, subsequently the adjoining areas were required to be declared as Red & Orange Zones only, as that, this decision  has sent a confusing signals among the people in entire Kashmir, making them more apprehensive and restless.

Apparently, the decision was taken in haste, without knowing the complete ground situation, even the current Month of Holy Ramdhan, besides the Agriculture season has not been taken into consideration, G. A. Mir said.

I would suggest that the Administration should initiate the process of categorization of only infected areas, subsequently their surroundings as Halqa wise, Tehsil Wise and ward wise in Urban Area, then declare these as Red and Orange on the basis of  ground reports, the other safe zones  must be declared as Green Zones inorder to avoid further chaos and fear among the people.

People in Kashmir have already been under strict lockdown since 9 months, declaring entire Kashmir as Red Zone has created more panic and restlessness among them, G.A. Mir added.

PCC President also drawn the attention of  UT Administration  to thousands of labourers stuck up in Silcher Assam, Kolkata WB, Patna Bihar, Siker Rajasthan, Laksar Haridwar, Muzaffar Nagar, Bijnoor, Khatuli in UP, Pagwara, Ludhiana, Amritsar in Punjab, who were still beyond the reach of UT Administration in wake of the techniques announced for the return of stranded people.

I understand  the labourers were not well versed with the procedure, it is quite  difficult for them to understand as to how they could connect with the Authorities, for the fact, they did not have the access to internet, whatsapp etc, they need to be  informed through other means of easy communication like Radio and TV  inorder to bring them back to their native places, G.A. Mir said.

PCC President also spoke to Advisor Baseer Ahmad Khan in this connection and told him that the procedures laid down for return of stranded people were quite difficult for the Labourers to understand, the UT Administration need to approach them through other means of  easy communication, enabling them to connect with the concerned authorities for their return.

Advisor Khan agreed with JKPCC President, assuring him that there will be prompt action on his suggestions.
