COVID-19: Kupwara admin eases curbs for agriculture activities

The administration in north Kashmir’s Kupwara on Tuesday extended prohibitory orders till 3 May banning inter-district movement of people but eased restrictions for horticultural and agricultural activities in the border district.

Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Anshul Garg today issued an order extending restrictions under Section 144CrPC on movement of public and transport throughout the District till 3 May.

The order issued today vide number 49 DMK of ADM 2020 with modifications to previous ones, says that there shall be complete restrictions on entry and exit of persons and vehicles into or from the district without valid permit issued by the competent authority. The order also states that any movement in or out of the Red-Zones remain prohibited accept with specific permission issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara on the recommendations of Nodal Officer designated for Red-Zones.

“The movement of paramedical staff deployed for COVID Hospital Kupwara shall be strictly through SRTC buses placed at the disposal of CMO and no individual permits shall be issued by this office,” says the order.

“The system of colour coded passes for officers/officials pertaining to essential services shall continue and no movement shall be permitted without such passes issued by the undersigned only,” the order adds.

However, the fresh directive by the DC has given some relief to the people associated with horticulture and agriculture activities.

According to the order, seeds, fertilizers and pesticides stores can remain open for two hours daily from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. (GNS)
