The teachers in Baramulla and Kupwara district to remain off duty from today till further orders.

The decision has been taken as a preventive measure to avoid gathering at public places.

Also, the administration has imposed section 144 in the district which disallows assembly of more than four people at any public place.

“All the educational institutions to remain shut till 31st March from today onwards. Teachers and staff advised to stay at home and practice social distancing in view of COVID 19,” Deputy Commissioner Kupwara said in a public notification.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, G N Itoo said they have imposed section 144 in the district.

“School is also a public place. So, teachers should understand that if section 144 is in place in the district, they can not assemble at any school,” G N Itoo said.

He said there was no requirement of issuing a separate order for school teachers.

“Obviously, when they are not allowed to assemble at any school they should remain at home,” he said .
