Directorate of School Education, Jammu organized a Webinar through its Counselling Cell on ‘Ensuring Well-being During Stressful Times’.

Director School Education Jammu, Anuradha Gupta was the chief guest of the event, while Practicing counsellor, WHO Life Skills Trainer, Parenting Coach, Therapist, Dr. Geetanjali Kumar, was the key resource person and Head of the Department, Home Science, University of Jammu, Prof. Samridhi Arora, was the guest of honour.

The webinar was attended live by students, teachers, parents and counsellors from across the UT. Over 300 teachers/counsellors were part of the online webinar, while over 3000 students watched it live on Facebook page of counseling cell and several others connected on other various platforms.

The Director School Education Jammu, in her key note address, apprised the participants about the initiative of DSEJ Aao Baat Karein Helpline which was started a year ago to help the students in overcoming their psychosocial problems. She said that Psychological Task Force and Teacher Counsellors must take benefit from these subject experts. She urged the students to talk to PTF and Teacher Counsellors, if they face any kind of trouble to get advice on time, as they can be their guides as well as best friends.

Dr. Geetanjali Kumar laid emphasis on life skills and problem-solving approach in life. She discussed critical thinking, self-love/care, self-awareness, wise mindset, uninterrupted, unconditional listening in detail with the participants by citing relevant examples from life experiences. She said that solitude is a good place to visit, but not a good place to stay. She satisfied the queries of the participants in Q&A session by using quotes and examples.

She also gave useful tips for suicide prevention, anti bullying, marital harmony, parenting, dealing with adolescents etc. Her session was very engaging, informative as well as motivating. She mesmerized the audience with her session and answers to their queries. Hundreds of thanks messages on facebook live and through chats left an extremely positive impact of her session on the audience.

Prof. Samridhi Arora gave an example of rubber band to relate elasticity of our life. She said that we stretch ourselves during stressful time but regain our position after sometime. She added that we should be resilient.

Head counselling cell DSEJ, Romesh Kumar, moderated the session .He also requested the members of the taskforce and other teacher counselors to pass on the messages of this session besides other well-being initiatives like manodarpan, aao baat karein, counseling calendar to the students, teachers and parents.
